Good stuff

This is my second Pertronix distributor. My first was a billet polished aluminum igniter II. The latest is the cast aluminum housing factory style housing with igniter technology. My only complaint is that Pertronix still doesn't offer a cast iron factory material distributor gear. At least the cast aluminum housing comes with the same size shaft as the factory one, so I was able to install my original gear (after some alignment drilling) Many folks purchase these distributors to replace worn factory distributors in their original equipment engines, and the billet steel gears are not compatible with the older non-roller style engines and will make quick work at chewing up the drive gear on the camshaft (ask me how I know) Bronze gears are an option, but the short lifespan of bronze gears doesn't make them too practical for a daily driver. I was finally able to find a gear for my Polished Billet aluminum Flamethrower and put it back into service, it's still not a cast iron, but a steel gear that is coated called "Everwear" from Lunati. So far so good, time will tell. Please start offering my gear options for us "non-racing" customers of years. You have a great product otherwise, so keep up the good work.

Pertronix in general

I have been running the billet version of this for years now in my 1976 351W and have been completely happy. I did have to change out the distributor gear to match my camshaft. This proved a bit difficult because the shaft diameter on the billet version is smaller than the original stock distributor's shaft, so I had to find a specialty one that would work in my Ford but fit a GM diameter shaft. I'm wondering if this new "stock look cast" distributor also has the stock diameter shaft and thus offering more factory gear options or even the ability to install and existing gear that is already worn/seated into the factory camshaft?
